1. Information We Collect

Usage Data

When you visit nicefa.org, our servers automatically record standard technical information including your browser type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs. This data is collected in aggregate and is not linked to any individual identity.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to operate the site, specifically to store your theme preference (light or dark mode) and to record your response to our cookie consent banner. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; note that doing so may affect site functionality.

Voluntarily Submitted Information

If you subscribe to the Journal newsletter, we collect and securely store your email address. If you contact us via email, we receive and retain your email address and the contents of your message solely for the purpose of responding to your enquiry.

2. Third-Party Services

YouTube

Some pages on nicefa.org embed videos hosted on YouTube (a Google service). When you interact with an embedded YouTube player, Google may collect data about your interaction in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing the Google Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Newsletter Infrastructure

We use an industry-standard, secure third-party provider to manage our Journal newsletter and dispatch emails. When you subscribe, your email address is securely processed by this provider under strict confidentiality and data protection agreements.

Cloud Hosting

Our website is hosted on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. As part of normal web hosting operations, standard connection metadata (such as IP addresses and request headers) is processed solely to ensure site security, reliability, and performance.

3. How We Use Your Data

Service Operation

Usage data is used exclusively to monitor site performance, diagnose technical issues, and understand how visitors navigate the library. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Communications & Newsletters

If you opt-in to our newsletter, we use your email address exclusively to send you bi-weekly deep dives into abstract mathematics and statistical inference. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided at the bottom of any newsletter email. Personal email correspondence is used solely to respond to your specific enquiries.

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@nicefa.org.

Data Retention

Newsletter subscription data is retained until you explicitly unsubscribe or request deletion. Email correspondence is retained for a maximum of 12 months after the last exchange. Aggregate usage logs are retained for up to 24 months and are then permanently deleted.

5. Data Security

Measures

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Our administrative systems are protected by authentication controls.

6. Changes to This Policy
